You'll be required to provide general supervision of the workshop and the vehicle construction work at Acklea. Additionally, hands on wiring and testing of all Acklea Vehicles and products to the customer specification and technical drawings
*Control of workshop teams and daily allocation of workload based on priorities - emphasis on time keeping and efficiency.
*Ensure the workshop and yard remain clean and tidy providing a safe working environment and identifying any potential safety hazards.
*Induction and supervision of new and existing staff in conjunction with the workshop training lead.
*To deputise for the Workshop Manager in his absence and assist in the management of the stores as required.
*Feedback to the Workshop Manager and/or the General Manager on performance issues affecting production and to help gather information on workshop staff for annual appraisals.
*Attend the weekly production meeting.
*Actively lead on and encourage quality improvement.
*Ensure all staff are using the correct PPE and report any failings through the reporting procedure.
*Attend meetings with customers and suppliers as required in conjunction with the General Manager and the Workshop Manager.
*To complete all wiring, hydraulics and all round presentation of product as directed in technical drawings and customer specification.
*Assists other trades personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
*General workshop duties.
*Other duties that may be required from time to time by the Company
*Demonstrate good fault diagnostic skills.
*Produce good productivity levels
*Ensure all paperwork is completed correctly, legible and handed in on time.
*Conduct themselves in a professional manner both at Acklea, customer depots and while driving treating members of the public with courtesy at all times.
*Deal with/highlight any shortfalls or issues relating to safety or maintenance immediately to the appropriate manager.
*Maintain a clean and tidy work area and ensure all tooling and specialist equipment is checked, tested and compliant in line with company policy.
*Maintain sufficient security measures to prevent theft of company/personal property during and after normal working hours.
Key skills (some training will be given if required for the right candidate)
*Engineering supervisory experience.
*Ability to provide leadership to a technical workforce and work well as part of a team.
*Auto Electrics Qualification -desirable
*Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and/or new coachbuilding.
*Hold a valid UK driving license (HGV license would be beneficial).
*Forklift Truck License - preferable
*A good standard of both written and spoken English.
*Ability to work well under pressure.
*Be a well organised individual with excellent time management.
*Demonstrate a desire for self-improvement and enthusiasm to learn new skills including attending training courses both in house and external.
