Job Description

The main purpose / activities are:

*Target weight definition.
*Weight - centre of gravity envelopes diagram definition.
*Analyze drawings in terms of weight, centre of gravity and inertia data and input into database using functional breakdown.
*Calculate mass & moment effect of A/C modifications.
*Define mass distribution to support load analysis.
*Support Flight Test to determine prototype weight and centre of gravity.
*Analyze the impact of weight, CG and inertia for all kits applicable.
*Attend the Weight Management meetings in Yeovil and design reviews for minor tasks, reporting relevant information and target weights for the tasks as directed.
*Produce standard engineering documents, reports and covering work undertaken within agreed formats.
*Assist in the weighing of A/C (multi-platform) & equipment.
*Perform the required project, process and departmental administration.
*Weight monitoring and reporting to the Chief Project Engineer.
*Support to Marketing.

Key responsibility areas:

*Analysis at system and sub-system level, for parts installed on new aircraft and improvements on current production.
*Benchmarking and comparison of similar technologies and design alternatives.
*Identification of key characteristics and parameters contributing to mass distribution for each system.
*Development of analytical models supporting the mass/inertia of new design solutions.

Skills, qualifications & knowledge required:

*Computer literate or already trained to operate relevant engineering systems; e.g. CATIA / VPM V4 / V5 (DMU) / SAP, Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point)
*Proactivity, problem solving capability, good communication skills and good team working capabilities;
*Willingness to work in an international, multicultural environment
*Working knowledge of Engineering drawings and parts list systems (legacy and modern).
*To be available for occasional travel.
*To report results to the Chief Project Engineer, Head of department and customers about the activity in hand.
*Good interpersonal and team skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
