Salary: circa £24,000 - £26,000
My client, an engineering company which specialises in the manufacture of bespoke products is currently looking for a Production Planner to join the production planning team in order to co-ordinate timely production planning to ensure assembly of equipment / machinery is maintained to schedule in line with customer requirements to achieve high standards of on-time delivery.
Close liaison with shop floor assembly teams, order coordinators, purchasing, suppliers and other key members of Operations Team to support high overall standards of customer service is required. Provide fast resolution of supplier quality defects and parts returns.
*Maintain and update production schedule in line with latest production status
*Review and expedite material shortages and escalate issues where appropriate
*Co-ordinate material delivery to assembly teams from stores
*Co-ordinate delivery of just in time (JIT) parts from supplier to assembly teams
*Provide fast resolution of shop floor issues arising from material shortages, quality defects and revision control issues
*Liaise closely with shop floor assembly teams, order coordinators, purchasing, suppliers, logistics and other key members of Operations Team to support high overall standards of customer service
*Liaise with sub contract suppliers to ensure any work is progressing in line with master schedule
*Arrange for repair or rework of damaged or faulty items
*Order packaging materials on a just in time basis
*Control and monitor production costs in real time to ensure all material transactions are properly accounted for and any returns are processed prior to production completion.
*Liaise with sales to co-ordinate final shipping of machine to customer
*Communicate any changes to master schedule through the correct channels
*Maintain and report on KPI's on a monthly basis
The successful candidate will be required to establish good working relationships with colleagues and suppliers and therefore, the ability to communicate at all levels is essential.
The ideal candidate will have strong IT skills including advanced use of excel and experience using an ERP/ MRP system.
In addition, candidates are required to have previous experience within a relevant manufacturing environment using best practice production planning, stock control and expediting techniques.
The ideal candidate would be able to interpret engineering drawings however this isn't essential.
