Mobile HGV Technician

My client who are a national fleet and hire company are looking for a Mobile HGV Technician to join there Bristol Branch.

Key Responsibilities (duties)
Mechanical Repairs
*Carry out ministry inspections to comply with customers 'O' license requirements
*Body Inspections and servicing
*Inspection and servicing of a variety of equipment
*Attend breakdowns in and out of normal working hours
*Carry out repairs reported through customer defecting procedures
*Mechanical repairs to various types of equipment and vehicles
*LOLER Inspections
*MOT preparation work and inspections

Depot Cover
*Cover technicians for Training, Holiday and sickness
*Cover for Workshop controllers
*Adopt depot paperwork procedures
*Identify rechargeable work and escalate as appropriate
*Ensure work is authorised before commenced
*Sourcing parts required for repair and raising order numbers
*Provide technical assistance to the depots via phone etc.
*Organise and oversee contractors when working on site
*Arrange warranty repairs

Fleet Inspections
*Condition reports of vehicles
*Ensuring vehicles are being cleaned and operator maintenance carried out
*Ensuring vehicles are being operated as intended
*Checking quality of external maintenance providers

*Vehicle reports including pictures
*Inspection reports completed accurately
*Customer defect reports completed
*Complete all contractual and legislative paperwork in an accurate and timely manner
*Completing new vehicle information documentation
Support the Fleet Operation by:
*Working some bank holidays or weekends if required
*Visit customer sites nationwide
*Carry out operator training if required
*Monitor activities and workload through engineers diary
*Advise fleet managers of any issues needing urgent attention
*Carry out ad-hoc inspections as requested
*Attend training courses as and when required
*Inspect old parts and advise Fleet desk for reason of failure
*Occasional nights away from home if required

Key Skills or Qualifications Required
*Sound knowledge in vehicle maintenance, in particular, local authority fleets
*Have an understanding of Electrical and Hydraulic systems
*Good time management
*Good prioritisation skills
*Good people/motivational skills
*Good communication skills
*Good attention to detail
*Good Computer literacy
*Microsoft Office experienced
*Ability to adapt to & manage a varied workload
*Driving licence (Category C)
*At least 5 years Automotive Experience (preferably workshop experience)
*Ability to work on own imitative
*GCSE's or equivalent
*Modern Apprenticeship in the Automotive industry
