Job Description

Engineer / Technician

A leading supplier of marine / industrial engines and equipment are recruiting a workshop based engineer / technician to join its small team providing a high level support to its customers.

Are you a time served Marine Engineer / Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic or LGV fitter?

Have you a background in Marine/ Automotive or plant engineering?

Would you be able to troubleshoot basic engine problems, carry out servicing, repairs and overhauls to medium and high speed diesel engines, customise engines and equipment to bespoke specifications?

You will be required to PDI check new equipment, customise mechanical and electrical equipment, repair and overhaul diesel engines up to 1000 horsepower, repair marine transmission equipment and support field service staff when required, conducting sea trials etc.

The successful candidate will be a time served engineer / technician who has a good understanding of mechanical and electronic fuel systems, basic electrical systems; and a sound knowledge of medium and high speed diesel engine diagnostics and repair.

Ongoing training will be given.

Experience in general fabrication and MIG / TIG welding would be an advantage.

You would be willing to travel throughout the UK when required, hold a current driving licence and live a commutable distance to Teignmouth.

This role can be physically demanding (climbing in and out of boats and engine rooms etc) and there will be some heavy lifting involved.

This is an opportunity to join a well established and specialist company with a strong reputation and a great culture.

There is flexibility, within reason, to offer the right salary depending on experience and the salary will be competitive!

You will need to have at least five years experience of repairing and maintaining medium and high speed diesel engines (this could be in an automotive / commercial vehicle environment rather than marine) and you will need a full UK driving license.

Please do get in touch to find out more about the opportunity and to discuss in confidence.
