Role - Manufacturing Engineer
Location - Gloucestershire
Contract length - 6 months
Pay - £35 - £40 per hour Ltd

My client, a leading Gloucestershire based aerospace manufacturer, is currently looking for a Manufacturing Engineer on a 6 month contract basis to join their team.

Ensure that DFM (Design For Manufacturing) and DFSS (Design For Six Sigma) principles are considered prior to a product being launched into manufacturing.

To support the fabrication of complex machined parts and sub-assemblies by providing timely and accurate CNC programs and work instructions from 3D models, with a focus on sliding head machine.

*Have excellent problem solving skills to tackle quality, process or yield issues.

*To develop and execute effective Manufacturing systems and practice that lead to best industry practice.

*Originate and conduct studies directed towards more efficient manufacturing of parts. Includes recommendations for changes in equipment, processes, methods, materials and design. Using statistical analysis tools to verify their findings.

*Establish tooling, gauging and fixture concepts. Review and approve tool, gauging and fixture design drawings. Estimate hours required to design and fabricate tools and fixtures.

*Work with suppliers to coordinate operation sheets containing outside and inside operations.

*Assist suppliers in resolution of problems related to the manufacture of parts.

*To bring Manufacturing costs in line with both Product line and business strategy

*Assure compatibility of engineering drawings and specifications with manufacturing and fabrication capabilities by reviewing drawing and making suggestions for changes and revisions to enhance productivity

*Coordinate with various departments and team members to assure the most effective design and use of manufacturing facilities and processes.

Proven and progressive experience (usually post-education) in the field of manufacturing/process engineering
Proven general capabilities in Lean methodologies
Proven specific capabilities in CNC programming using 3D CAD/CAM, (NX, Vericut or similar), preferably with using Partmaker/FeatureCam

Proven knowledge and experience of programming and setting CNC machines
