My client, whom specialise in the events industry, are looking for a Help Desk Technician to join their team on a permanent basis.
The role is based out of Gloucester and will be based on 5 out of 7 days per week which will be determined dependent on the companies main focus at the time - weekend work will be manageable from home where the relevant hardware & software will be provided.
The successful candidate will also need to be an occasional onsite presence at the major events.
My client are looking for candidates with a strong help desk background whom can be the main point of contact for IT solutions within the organisation.
You will be working closely with the Operations Director in the role.
o Provide a remote Helpdesk function towards both clients and internal event staff.
o Provide onsite support at major Events working alongside the Event team to provide a proactive fault recognition.
o Log and track all faults through the companies dedicated fault tracking software.
o Provide real time updates to Escalation team during any major event issue.
o Liaise and interface with on call remote resource for the timely resolution of all faults
o Provide clear briefings and communication to clients and end users on how the system is setup/performing/operating.
o Report any concerns regarding the suitability, security or use of company hardware and ICT to your line manager.
o Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of emerging technology trends and developments in areas of interest and relevance to the business.
o Any other duties that may be required from time to time for the smooth running of the business.
o Provide Root Cause Analysis on faults/issues to minimise reoccurrences going forward and model trending patterns on faults.
o Demonstrable experience of deploying and maintaining wired and WiFi networks within high density environments.
o Demonstrable experience of deploying and supporting satellite connections.
o Good Layer 2 knowledge and experience of CAT-5 cabling and fibre, PoE and good IP knowledge including subnets, routing, VLANS etc.
o Demonstrable understanding and experience of PSTN (DSL & ISDN) and VoIP.
o Good planning and time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload appropriately and meet challenging deadlines.
o Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build effective business and colleague relationships, and explain solutions to a non-technical audience.
o Ability to work unsupervised, using their own initiative, in cooperation with other teams.
o Understanding of, and commitment to, the unsociable working hours that are necessary in the events industry (working hours will ordinarily be 5 days out of every 7 including weekends and long days at times.
o Full UK driving license (with no more than 6 points for minor convictions).
