Pertemps Scotland Ltd are delighted to be working with our high profile, public sector clients based in the city centre of Edinburgh to recruit for a Health and Safety Advisor on a temporary basis.

Role - Health and Safety Advisor
Contract - Temporary contract on an ongoing basis
Hours - 36 hours, Monday - Friday
Rate of pay - £16.94 per hour

Our client are looking for an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join their dynamic, effective and customer focused occupational health and safety team on a temporary, ongoing basis.

You will be:
  • Assisting to develop, promote and sustain a best value, customer focused health and safety service to support the strategic objectives and performance standards
  • Assisting the Senior members of the team in the provision of advice to managers on occupational health and safety issues relevant to work activities
  • Assisting identifying any training needs
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of training, development workshops or briefings for managers and employees
  • Developing and maintaining close and effective links with managers and local Trade Union representatives, ensuring that service needs are responded to promptly
  • Working in partnership with colleagues to support the development and implementation of safe and healthy working practices and environments
  • Liaising with colleagues to ensure the effective delivery of service provisions
  • Developing policies, procedures and guidelines to comply with health and safety legislation, ensuring they reflect professional best practice
  • Undertaking a programme of health and safety auditing across service areas, ensuring that reports are provided promptly to service managers with any remedial action detailed in an action plan
  • Advise of any operational support requirements for service managers arising from the audit process or within the action plan
  • Monitoring accident and work related ill health records and prepare analytical reports for senior management quarterly
  • Assist in the preparation of an annual health and safety report
  • Undertake any other relevant and appropriate duties

You should have:
  • 5 years' experience working within a full time health and safety role
  • Experience of implementing safety management systems including development of policies and guidance
  • Experience of health and safety auditing
  • Experience of delivering health and safety training
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or an equivalent level qualification)
  • CMIOSH is desirable
