Job Description

Acorn Recruitment is seeking 2 Embedded Systems Development Engineers for their industrial equipment manufacturer in Bristol. Our client is ideally looking for experience in a similar position, however applications from candidates with limited work experience would be considered. Salary for these vacancies is £35,000 to £45,000 based on experience and background.

You will be required to work on a range of challenging embedded systems projects associated with the company's extensive range of automated drinks dispensing equipment, supporting the development through all stages of the product life cycle.

Main Responsibilities

Working as part of a small multidisciplinary team the main responsibilities of the role will include:

- Development and support of software for real-time embedded applications for 16 and 32 bit micro-controller platforms, working from within a Windows environment and in the C programming language. The role requires involvement at all stages of the design cycle including testing and debugging in the target environment.
- Design at schematic level of the electrical wiring harnesses required to interface the control system to the target hardware.
- Provide electrical design input to a multidisciplinary product development team.
- Provide support to production colleagues during the introduction of new products and provide expert assistance for problem resolution with existing designs.
- Provide expert assistance to colleagues in after-sales support
- Specification of simple PCBs at the schematic level.

Main Requirements:

- Electrical/Electronic background with a strong software bias.
- Minimum of two years of experience in embedded software engineering
- Preference will be given to candidates with project management experience
- Graduate degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Electronics & Computing or similar.
- Experience with hands-on development and troubleshooting on embedded targets
- Solid programming experience in C or C++ in a real time environment.
- Able to produce schematics and specification for new PCB design
- Experience with fault finding and resolution at all levels.
- Good documentation and writing skills.
