The business – Design Manager:

RGB Recruitment are delighted to be working with an established manufacturer of bespoke construction precast products based in Weston Super Mare.  This business is steeped in over 100 years of history and is a national leader in it’s field.

These products are used on high profile projects across the country and as such this business holds a considerable market share. We are seeking a commercially aware and proactive Design manager to move into a leading role within the business

  • St George Wharf, London
  • Paribas company HQ, London
The role – Design Manager:

The Design Manager will be assisting the Managing Director in the preparation of quotations for new contract works, including the analysis of the project and the development of the most efficient and economic scheme for the production, delivery and installation of precast units to meet the clients’ requirements and the CDM regulations. They will need to be confident running 3-4 projects at any one time

Once a new contract has been awarded, discussing and developing the scheme at design team meetings with the client and their team, to agree final details, construction arrangements and programme of works.

Instructing external Structural Engineers on the new contract and supervising their timely production of calculations, fixing arrangements and reinforcement drawings.

Instructing drawing staff on the contract and supervising their timely and accurate production of buildings drawings, workshop drawings and fixing details suitable for the manufacture of precast units to the agreed programme

Instructing factory managements on the new contract and supervising their timely and accurate production of precast units, to the production rates and programme as agreed in the quotation.

Instructing site management on the new contract and supervising their timely and accurate installation  of units onsite together with any associated works

Other duties include:
  • A Design Manager will be expected to represent the company at construction progress meetings with clients on site
  • Reporting any variations in the nature and extent of the agreed contract works to the Quantity Surveyor
  • Ensuring that all activities are covered by method statement and risk assessments
