The role of Mechanical Design Engineer will involve the following
*Design of bodies and superstructures on Automation Machinery
*Design in 2D/3D using the latest software packages
*Design and implementation of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
*Material selection for weight optimization
*Bill of materials generation
*Must be able to make your own engineering calculations
*Working on a range of light to heavy duty commercial vehicle projects
*Identifying customer requirements/ specifications, reproducing these into concept designs
*Design of assemblies in 2D/3D ranging from full assembly down to individual parts
*Creation of BOM
*Liaising with the production on day to day basis
*Full product cycle experience from design through to manufacturing
The successful candidate for Design Engineer will ideally have the following skills
*Experienced with AUTOCAD 2D and INVENTOR 3D package
*Will be able to create 2D and 3D drawings
*Ability to calculate your own engineering calculations
*Experienced in designing light/medium sheet metal parts
*Experienced in designing machined parts
*Experienced in the design of light to heavy metal fabrications
*Self-motivated, ideally from a small team background
*Hydraulics and pneumatics knowledge (not essential)
*Experienced in compiling bills of Materials and liaising with the procurement department
*'Right first time' approach in his work
*Computer literate (excel, word, power-point)
*Excellent organisation, time management skills
*Thorough attention to detail
*Excellent communication skills both face to face and telephone
*Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Design: 3 years (Required)
