An excellent opportunity has arisen for a CAD Technician to work for an ambitious consultancy in Bristol! Are you looking to develop your career within the Highways and Traffic Consulting Services sector? If so, look no further!

The Company – CAD Technician


This business is a small but ambitious and dynamic consulting practice, working primarily in the development planning sector. Across 2 offices, they provide a range of transport planning, traffic engineering and infrastructure design services to support development proposals all around the UK.

The Role – CAD Technician

Your duties will be to produce Highway Engineering drawings from Engineers sketches and to produce a range of drawings and figures for use in technical reports. You would also be expected to be undertake the day-to-day duties required to support the efficient operation of a technical team including site visits. You also will be offered further on the job training in the use of AutoCAD and associated software.

With further training, other duties will include assisting more experienced colleagues with the analysis of different types of road junctions and to become involved in the use of vehicle swept path modelling using AutoTrack and potentially 3D highways design and ground modelling software.

The Candidate – CAD Technician

Candidates should possess the following attributes:
  • Working towards a degree in Civil Engineering or HND in Traffic & Highways
  • Logical, numerate and well-organized with a good spatial understanding
  • Confidence in the use of AutoCAD 2D (3D desirable but not essential)
  • Good IT skills with a good working knowledge of MS Office
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • A team player
  • Outline knowledge of NRSWA, DMRB, TSRGD 2016 and TD/TAs
