Job Description

Pertemps Scotland Ltd are working with our client in Edinburgh to recruit for Admin urveyor on a temporary basis for around 2 weeks. The roles are full time and the rate of pay is £9.38 per hour.

Monday to Friday
Start: 7th October
Training provided
8.45am - 5.15pm

The purpose of the utilisation survey is to collect accurate real-time data about the occupancy and utilisation of all classrooms, lecture rooms, specialised rooms and non-time tabled spaces to ensure that the spaces are used efficiently and conform to the timetable.

The utilisation survey is carried out over a ten-day period across all the campuses. The Surveyor will walk a set route within the building every hour and collect the following data from each room.

Who is scheduled to use the room (class name)
Who is actually using the room (class name or unoccupied)
If occupied the number of people using the room

The Surveyor is given a tablet device complete with specialist software showing a plan of their route.

The surveyor walks the route following the plan and touches the room they are surveying. Once the room is highlighted a menu pops up. The required information is then inputted and the room changes colour to show that it is complete. The surveyor moves onto the next room until their route is completed.

The surveyor can then have a rest until the next walk. The data collected is then downloaded at the end of the day vis Wi-Fi. Training is provided and a supervisor will be on hand to help with any issues.

The data you are collecting has to be consistent so we would expect you to be available for the whole duration of the job and to be punctual.
There is a need to use a tablet device so a limited knowledge of mobile devices is required.
There is a fair bit of walking over the ten days so comfortable shoes should be worn.
The work should be carried out with the minimum of disruption to those working in the building.
If you are stopped and asked a question by someone working in the building, please respond using the script provided.
If a major problem occurs and you are unable to come into to work adequate notice must be given to allow us to get in and train a replacement.
