Earn cyber security qualifications and lifelong skills through our free cyber security career 'Pathways' programmes, delivered in partnership with IBM and Abertay University. Apply for one of our employment pathways exclusively for the Armed Forces community and gain specialist skills and qualifications.

We've selected the best of IBM's digital skills training courses to help you find the best training path and teamed up with Fortinet and Abertay University to deliver more specialised skills training.

PENETRATION TESTING PATHWAY - NEW FOR 2023 - SEE DETAILS BELOW

SECURITY OPERATIONS PATHWAY

Get trained as an entry-level one SOC analyst and learn when, how and why a cyber attack was successful. Or for more experienced candidates, more advanced training is available.

 

CYBER SECURITY CONSULTING PATHWAY

Advance your cyber security career and train to become a cyber security consultant and gain skills in detecting vulnerabilities and designing security solutions.

 

NETWORK SECURITY PATHWAY

A career in network security is constantly evolving and those with problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset and those with general security experience gained in the military will do well in this career path.

 

 

PENETRATION TESTING PATHWAY - NEW FOR 2023

We're delighted to partner with Abertay University, the UK's leading provider of advanced 'Ethical Hacking' courses, and the Scottish Cyber and Fraud Centre to offer a short, tutored and remotely delivered 'Penetration Testing Course'. The course is designed to help people with military security training and experience realign and improve their skills for employment as Penetration Testers or Ethical Hackers.

This 'pathway to employment' programme is designed to provide members of the Armed Forces community (serving personnel, former members of the Armed Forces, spouses etc) with access to training & certification as an Ethical Hacker/ Pen Tester and, where appropriate, subsequent paid work experience or employment opportunities.

It's a 4 stage process:

  1. Application and selection; completion of pre-course training
  2. Pen Testing/ Ethical Hacking course (April - July 2023)
  3. CompTIA PenTest+ Certification
  4. Paid Work Placement or Employment (where appropriate)

If you're a competent IT user, willing to learn and have an interest in becoming a pen tester and gain the skills to become an Ethical Hacker or Penetration Tester, then this is for you. And it's FREE - no need to use up ELC or IRTC grants and no course fees.

Closing date for applications for the Friday 17th March.
