The role
As a Welder Trainer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Babcock manages all aspects of the land training cycle, delivering over 758,000 training days annually for the Armed Forces and producing personnel that are knowledgeable, skilled and competent to operate in the most challenging circumstances.
Day to day, you'll deliver welder training to the trade's men and women of the British Armed Forces, supporting and developing engineers to ensure the next generation of metalsmiths are ready for their roles - full training and support is offered to undertake this role, resulting in additional qualifications for you if not already held.
Deliver welder training utilising MMA, MIG/MAG, FCAW, TIG and OA to military trainees aged 17 years and over both practically and within a classroom setting.
You will conduct courses, write lesson plans, and partake in trainee administration.
Demonstrate welding processes and procedures
You will mark students work both practical and online, this includes assessments but not homework.
Essential experience of the Welder Trainer
Ex-Armed Forces metal smith would be highly desirable
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Previous supervisory experience would be beneficial
This position is full time (37 hours per week) onsite at MOD Lyneham from 8am until 5pm, Monday to Friday with the exception of Wednesday's were you will finish at 2pm. Working with us at MOD Lyneham, you will have access to a free onsite gym membership and access to our onsite café and coffee shop.
Qualifications for the Welder Trainer,
Extensive experience and Level 3 in Welding, would consider Level 2. We will consider 2-3 years Welding experience for the right candidate.
A Level 3 Certificate of Education qualification would be desirable however, should you not hold this qualification we will ensure you get the full training and support to succeed in receiving it.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
