You will be responsible for taking samples of wastewater at our sewage treatment works and companies that discharge into our sewers. You will follow a sampling schedule agreed with The Environment Agency whilst ensuring all quality procedures are met to ensure compliance e.g. sample contamination.This role will involve sampling from Thames Water - Wastewater sewage treatment works and trade effluent sampling at industrial sites.
You will be responsible for:
- Setting up sampling machines.
- Collecting samples to a pre-defined programme; following strict quality procedures.
- Daily maintenance of sampling equipment would be the post holder’s responsibility.
- Operating under Lone Working procedures (Solo monitoring).
- Carrying out regular self PPE / van equipment checks, reporting shortfalls to Coordinator.
- Keeping accurate records of the Health and Safety activities and report details of issues arising from external audits, e.g. EA audits of UWWTD sampling.
- Assisting the Coordinator in carrying out actions to address issues.
Do you have a valid, UK driving licence? Do you have proven experience working to strict instruction? We are looking for someone who is computer literate, is willing to learn and is able to take the quality and compliance seriously. As you will be managing your own workload you will been to be organised with the ability to priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Previous sampling experience would be beneficial.
