We are currently looking for a Warehouse Manager to work in the St James area.

The Shift Time is going to be either 3pm-12am or 5pm-2am to be discussed at interview stage.

Job Purpose

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the Warehouse and the Distribution function.

The two key responsibilities of this position are to ensure:
  • that stocks are maintained in a readiness for efficient and complete order fulfilment. Stock should be presented in a clean, un-damaged condition for our Picking teams.
  • that the despatch of goods and their corresponding paperwork are completed and presented in efficient and accurate manner.
Job Overview

In this hands-on role, the Warehouse Manager is to oversee the efficient receipt, storage and dispatch of all goods. To brief and co-ordinate to ensure that all goods inwards and goods outwards are received and despatched in efficient and accurate manner on daily basis.

The Warehouse Manager is expected to lead a team, including dealing with day to day staff matters, safety and welfare, training and development of other shift team members along with involvement in continuous improvement initiatives.

Main Job Responsibilities

Design and implement Warehouse policies by establishing standards, systems and procedures, measuring results against standards and adjustments where necessary.
Ensure all vehicles to be controlled by the site are loaded and unloaded appropriately and safely.
Analyse and monitor internal processes, making adjustment when and where necessary
Ensure an effective flow of information between the Warehouse Teams and Production and the CSR Team
Provide periodic reports and present to senior management
Manage department staff relations and motivate, organise and encourage teamwork within departments to ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded
Promote staff development and training, and keeping a record
Manage and monitor performance, counsel and discipline staff where required
Maintain adequate levels of cover for absences and workloads in peak times
Recruit new team members, including agency staff and once hired oversee their induction to ensure they receive the relevant training
Monitor adherence to company policies and procedures, including health & safety; taking corrective action where required.
Oversee the planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery and equipment.
Monitor and record staff absences, timekeeping or other relevant staff issues.
Operate and promote a safe working environment ensuring adherence to health and safety procedures and highlighting safety concerns and issues to management as they arise.
Use space and mechanical handling equipment efficiently, making sure quality, budgetary targets and environmental objectives are met.
Accurate presentation of all delivery paperwork (POD’s)
Review information flow on OOS’s to both Customers and Sales Office
Administer returns goods and supervise disposal in cooperation with Q.C.
Ensure the correct recording of all stock movement, and ensure compliance with Company Policy on the Inputting of all movements on Hansa.
Schedule and coordinate a programme of regular stock counts as required.
Manage the investigation of all stock queries in any warehouse location, including NHFG, 87FG, NHPN and off site locations.
Review the inspection and processing of all customer returns.
Coordinate and prepare the return/claim of faulty bought in items.
Investigate and report all incidents e.g. accidents, poor performance.
Support and engage with the quality and ISO departments to ensure the companies standards are met and exceeded. (N.B Specific focus given to Goods Inwards).
Work to and in line with the warehouse control systems and ensuring that good warehouse practices are maintained at all times.
Train new team members and coach existing team members where required.

-Carry out any other duties, which fall within the broad spirit, scope and purpose of this job description. Such flexibility is essential as the type and volume of work is always subject to change, therefore allowing the company to operate efficiently and gain maximum potential.

-Ensure all activities of personnel are done safely and all safety related issues that need improvement are identified to management.

The occupant of this position is expected to be able to function in the role and fulfil the duties and responsibilities above without requiring a high degree of supervision.

He/she is required to have the ability to work on their own initiative having the ability to start an action, including coming up with a proposal and giving or assisting without first being requested to do so.

Communication: conveying information clearly and accurately to and from other team members, management and other plant functions such as production, customer services and quality. Good listening and basic computer skills are essential.

Person Specification

The Manager will have:

-Previous experience and in-depth knowledge of distribution / warehousing ideally gained from working in a similar environment.

-Previous experience of leading and managing a diverse warehouse and distribution team.

-Ability to motivate others to meet demands established by the schedule.

-A valid Counterbalance and Reach forklift licence.

-The interpersonal, organisational and communication skills needed to effectively lead others and to liaise with other Managers, Quality and other plant functions.

-Possess a “can do” attitude.
