Volunteering Policy Officer

We are recruiting for a Volunteering Policy Officer with experience within the Public/Government sector for a role based in London.
This role will sit within the part of the team that leads on the Voluntary and Community Sector, which is a partnership of local and national voluntary and community sector organisations that was formed in response to learnings from several 2017 national crises. It is now playing a crucial role in the response to COVID-19. Information on the VCSEP can be found here.
The role will be focused on supporting the existing VCSEP programme, including working closely with stakeholders across Government and in the voluntary and community sector. This is an exciting role that provides an opportunity to work in a policy area that is playing a critical role in the country's response to COVID-19 and which also offers the opportunity to gain exposure to senior staff.
Provide secretariat support for the team and senior staff. This will include coordinating meetings and working groups with stakeholders, drafting agendas and papers, providing prompt minutes/readouts and, at times, managing agreed actions from those meetings
Providing effective support for ministers and senior officials eg: Parliamentary Questions, correspondence and briefings
Promoting the work of the VCSEP across Government, which may include creating promotional materials for key stakeholders and representing the team at meetings and events
Managing stakeholders across Government and the voluntary and community sector
The role may also require assisting in managing a £4.8m programme budget effectively and in monitoring the programme's metrics and milestones.
Voluntary and community sector experience and/or public sector experience is essential
Ability to accurately and succinctly articulate information, sometimes with very little notice
Experience of drafting quality written materials (inc. briefings and correspondence)
Experience of working in a fast-paced environment
Stakeholder management, with the ability to build strong, credible relationships across organisations and sectors
