We currently have an opportunity available for a full time vocational tutor working alongside the Head of Alternative Provision to prepare learners for college within the framework of nationally recognised qualifications.

You will be expected to strive to maintain above average success rates in all areas, using innovation within your teaching and assessing, utilising e-learning opportunities where appropriate. This is a fantastic opportunity to pass your specialist skills on to the next generation of young people who struggle with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs.

The successful candidate will have experience of working within the vocational industry or a proven background in delivering an outstanding vocational education. We are looking for someone with a vision to develop an outstanding curriculum incorporating horticulture, animal care, young enterprise, brick-laying, cooking, art, painting & decorating and any other relevant vocational pathways. The successful candidate will be able to deliver at least 2 of the pathways.

What will I be expected to do?

You will have the creativeness to develop a proactive approach to planning, developing and delivering a diverse range of accredited courses, with an emphasis on monitoring pupil attendance, engagement, and success. In addition, you will work with colleagues across Educate, local schools and multi-agencies to help reduce barriers to engagement and promote awareness of pupil's needs. This will require a good understanding of the needs of our diverse pupil population and an ability to offer effective advice and guidance.

What qualifications do I require?

Relevant degree i.e., Youth Work, Youth, and Community etc.

What skills or qualities do I require?

You will have previous experience of working, planning and delivering a diverse range of activities and accredited outcomes to young people deemed hard to reach. Due to the nature of the role, it is imperative that you have experience of multi-agency working, a proven track record of delivering positive outcomes and more importantly an ability to form effective relationships with young people and fellow professionals

What registrations do I need to hold?

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, but if you don’t have one, you will have to apply for a new one through Educate
If you wish to work in Wales, you will need to register with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
