To inspect vehicles on their return from customers and determine any additional damage or items missing and classify its state of readiness for future hire. The role will also include checking in new additions to the fleet and helping to prepare vehicles for delivery.
Essential Skills include
*To determine from the collecting driver any information which would help in the inspection and future classification of the vehicle. This may include local conditions at collection site, conversations the collecting driver has had with the customers, or observations on the vehicle characteristics whilst driving the vehicle back to the Depot.
*To inspect vehicles on return from our customers and identify any further damage not recorded on the collection note. To note any items that are missing from the original delivery note. To bring to the attention of the collecting driver and Depot Manager any such discrepancies.
*Where necessary clean the vehicle so that a thorough inspection can be conducted. For clarity heavy soiling of the vehicle will be conducted by the valeter.
*To ensure all ancillary equipment on specialist vehicles is accounted for.
*To carry out a short road test after the inspection to further help in determining its future classification. Should there be any doubt about the roadworthiness of the vehicle you should inform the Depot Manager prior to departure on the road test.
*Record your inspections on the Weekly Summary sheet and submit to the Depot Manager at the end of each working week.
*Complete the vehicle return inspection sheet and classify each vehicle based on a traffic light system ensuring the Workshop Foreman is in agreement with your assessment.
*To inspect and complete all the necessary paperwork to introduce a new vehicle into the fleet.
*To help prepare vehicles for delivery. This may entail helping with paperwork, assisting a driver to load the vehicle or carrying out minor technical work.
*When all the key tasks are complete assist when business critical the daily driving duties of the Depot.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate:
*Driving license (Category C ideal)
*Current Driver CPC qualification.(ideal)
*Sufficient understanding of vehicle technology to identify defects which prohibit a vehicle from being roadworthy and its ancillary equipment from being unsafe to use.
*A good standard of both written and spoken English.
*A tenacious, enthusiastic, and flexible disposition.
*Good self-starter with the ability to multi-task.
*Ability to work well under pressure.
*Ability to work well as part of a team, and also under your own initiative when required.
*Be a well organised individual with excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
