Vision for Education are currently looking to appoint a Tutor to work in supporting a bespoke package of education put in place for young people (Key Stage 3 – Key Stage 5) who are accessing a Specialist Creative Setting in Macclesfield.
The desired Tutor will be required to plan and deliver Maths and English to Neurodiverse students on a 1:1 or small group basis. Therefore, this role will ideally be for someone who has experience of supporting and motivating students in accessing education and overcoming barriers to learning.
Deliver Maths and English as part of a bespoke curriculum that is focused on a creative study programme.
Create effective and inclusive resources that support a young person’s individual learning plan.
Produce weekly reports on each student’s engagement and attainment, record weekly attendance figures, and attend pupil meetings.
Liaise with college staff to report any issues or concerns when necessary and share appropriate information with external agencies involved in supporting the needs of the young person.
The Specialist Creative College in Macclesfield has an alternative approach to education and supports addition/high needs routes to wellbeing and engagement. Mindfulness to be respectful, responsible, safe and kind, are at the core of the college’s values. The successful Functional Skills Teacher will be joining a team of teachers, SENCOs, and Wellbeing Specialists to work together to support the needs of the young people.
Requirements for the role
Hold a teaching qualification
Have experience of teaching English and Maths
Have a comprehensive understanding of working with young people attributed EHCP’s for a Special Educational Needs, with references as evidence,
Have a creative and versatile teaching style to accommodate each young person’s needs and interests.
Have experience of implementing a variety of de-escalation strategies in challenging situations involving young people.
Have a genuine desire to become part of a committed team of staff.
Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for the position of a Tutor are:
A teaching qualification is required (QTS / QTLS is desired)
