About the role:
Are you an experienced Transport Supervisor looking for your next opportunity?
We’re looking for a Transport Supervisor to join our team in Preston. Based on a 50 hour week working Monday - Friday, you’ll be supporting our customer Board 24.
You’ll be responsible for developing and building efficient routes whilst maximising vehicle capacity, ensuring all work is distributed whilst complying with Transport Legislation, Health & Safety and customer service requirements.
This role has a holiday allowance of 20 days + bank holidays.

What your day will look like:
Ensure that your Site Planners plan all relevant customer deliveries utilising the software available at site to ensure delivery windows are met.
Through liaising with your Site Planners that you are fully aware of any delays and possible issues with delivery.
Liaise with the Customer as required in relation to delays and possible issues with delivery.
Develop back haul lanes with depots and 3rd party customers whilst maintaining fleet utilisation.
Source local agency drivers as and when required (in conjunction with our PSL) providing an accurate brief of job required.
Source local sub-contractors as and when required.
Ensure compliance with Agency Driver checklist.
Communicate routes to and liaise with other MDSDepots
Record trailer information on all inbound/outbound deliveries and stand trailers.
Fully understand and communicate agreed KPI’s for Department
All other transport office related duties

What we need from you:
People management skills
Experience of working in a busy Transport office
Knowledge of Drivers Hours, Tachograph and WTD legislation
Knowledge of Continuous Improvement.
Strong negotiating skills
Good standard of education
Knowledge of Health & Safety
Knowledge of transport systems.
