My client based in West Suffolk is seeking a Transport First Line Manager.

Shifts: Day shift however flexibility will be required
Salary: Circ 35k

The Role
The role of the FLM is to ensure the safe, legal and efficient execution of transport operations during a duty shift. Responsible for the execution of transport plans ensuring transport and network SLA's/KPI's are achieved. FLM's are front and centre of the transport operation demonstrating 21st century driver engagement and management. In addition to being a duty manager the FLM is a driver line manager ensuring the wellbeing, performance and motivation of their team through regular performance dialogues, scheduled 1-2-1's as well as ad-hoc communication and engagement.

Duties

o Safe, legal and efficient execution of transport operations during a duty shift to network SLA's/KPI's
o Review and amend where appropriate daily plans
o Collate all feedback against plan in the daily operations log for use in planning
o Daily operations issue management and resolution for transport and with local warehouse
o Management of short term driver absence and relocation of work
o Responsible for full and effective daily brief/debrief the company, agency and sub-contractor drivers
o Responsible for driver and fleet legal compliance during shift.
o Ensuring all drivers are appropriately trained and familiarised with both operations and equipment
o Accident and breakdown management
o Ownership and accountability for driver induction, training and qualification are up to date for drivers reports
o Point of the contact for all drivers during your drivers duty shift
o From time to time you may be requested to deputise for the Transport Manager
o To schedule, prepare and conduct quarterly 1-2-1's with all direct reports in line with OMS guidelines
o Fostering an environment that promotes sharing of ideas and best practice to the benefit of the network
o Manage Driver performance to identify any major discrepancies in accordance with the Daily Transport Plan
o Manage operational costs and identification of cost performance trends - i.e. fuel performance/accidents etc
o Support of transport and network project and initiatives
o Manage disciplinary and grievance in accordance with Company Policy and Procedures
o To schedule, prepare and conduct quarterly 1-2-1's with all direct reports in line with OMS guidelines
o Recruitment and selection
o Liaise with and feedback to driver agencies for ad-hoc and peak driver support

o Transport Office experience
o Line management capabilities
o Transport legal compliance
