About the role:

Thames Water are looking for 2 Transformation Project Managers.

The Transformation Project Manager is accountable for planning and leading Enterprise wide Transformation and Change projects across the business.

Thames Water is undergoing significant business transformation spanning all areas of the organisation and as such the environment is fluid, challenging yet hugely rewarding. This role focuses on internal change projects covering customer experience, operating model, organisational design and digital, most of which are at the early stages of initiation. Therefore, the work is very diverse, often ambiguous and requires someone that thrives when given autonomy to define scope and then lead cross functional teams to deliver the plan.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

You will be able to work with senior stakeholders in the business and provide expertise to ensure the projects deliver the business need as well as ensure critical path and cross portfolio dependencies are managed.

Due to the nature of the work you will potentially be expected to engage with external stakeholders e.g. shareholders, board members, government officials and our regulators.

The accountabilities and responsibilities are very complex, encompassing all areas of Thames Water. Self-motivation, drive and pragmatism are critical as the role holder will need to plan and implement the project whilst ensuring current business deliverables are achieved and benefit from the new ways of working as and when they are ready. As such, someone with a delivery background within the utility industry within Telecoms, finance, banking or energy environment would be an ideal fit.

This role is a critical position for the business, with key stakeholders at Extended Leadership Group (ELG) and Executive level.

You will lead the project teams and be responsible for inputting into business case approval tasks and then delivering the project.

You will be accountable for defining, delivering and embedding all assigned projects and be responsible for the definition and delivery of the business measures and benefits.

You will be accountable for defining the next stage plan, lead across project to ensure the behavioural and cultural benefits of all transformation programmes are compelling and embedded.

You will drive a professional services culture across the business and to support the creation of an internal consulting capability and be an PPM SME and to coach the discipline pan Thames.

You will represent the Transformation and Change unit at all required Project meetings, ELG and Exec boards and drive and embed change across the organisation, influencing ELG strategy using new thinking and industry insights.
With Project budget ~£10m+ you will be measured on Project status and performance, Project benefits realisation, Thames wide Change effectiveness employee engagement score. 

Your previous experiences will include leadership of direct teams 10 FTE+, Leadership of virtual teams 25+.

You will have the ability to lead projects and change initiatives to deliver major transformation and the ability to identify business outcomes and convert them into realistic roadmaps.

Some of your qualifications include:
  • ITIL Foundation and or Practitioner
  • Prince 2 Practitioner
  • APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ)
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt (CSSYB)
