Location: Various London and the South East (Please note that your application will also be considered for any other postcodes within a 45 minute drive from this location).

Salary: Basic salary of £20,750 rising to £25,394 upon completion of the 12 month training period.

On Target Earnings: Opportunities to earn a10% target bonus on top of your basic salary after the first 12 months (£27,933 OTE).

London Weighting: Paid in addition to your basic salary if you are a London based permanent employee (£3,380 inner London and £1,670 outer London).

Allowance:  Up to £1,431 payable to you on top of your basic salary if you’re working offshore on the outer Scottish Islands.

The standard working week is of 37.5 hours, 4 or 5 days between Monday and Sunday, and once you have gained some experience, there’s often opportunities for overtime. Starting and finishing times are between 07:00 and 21:00.

The role

It doesn’t matter if you’ve never done anything like this before – we’ll give you the best training in the business and teach you all the skills you need.

As one of our Network Technician/Engineer you could be building our network, or installing and maintaining broadband for our customers – covering residential customers as well as businesses on behalf of a variety of communication providers.

 

You’ll be driving your van out in the fresh air. You’ll be working in different types of buildings including our central hubs for connecting customers. You might find yourself working at a street cabinet, up a telegraph pole or in the customers’ premises. Quite a lot of the work is done independently, but you’re never really by yourself as you’ll be interacting with customers and be supported by your manager and team members who’ll be just a phone call away.

 

We have world class training to equip you with the new skills you’ll need and we'll provide you with everything you need to do the job - tools, clothing and a vehicle. If you’re the type of person who likes fixing problems and is passionate about customer service, then we want you to apply.

 

Here is how the training is structured - After your induction day at our flagship training site, Yarnfield Park near Stafford, you’ll know everything about health and safety as well as how to provide a great customer service.

 

The following weeks will involve a mixture of classroom learning in our dedicated training centres and practising out in the field with an experienced colleague.

 

You’ll maximise your training by practicing what you’ve learnt as you go along, so that after a few months you’ll be on the road as a confident Trainee Network Technician/Engineer, whilst still receiving all the support you need. You’ll be set to successfully completing the programme and gaining your qualifications at the end of the 12th month.

*English and Welsh joiners will complete BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals (QCF) and Scottish joiners will complete a diploma for Information Technology and Telecommunications Professionals at SCQF Level 5.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for individuals with an ability to connect with people and a willingness to get stuck in. As mentioned, previous experience is not required as we will train you and equip you with the new skills you need. We’re looking for people who are:

  • Excellent communicators
  • Happy working outdoors whether it’s glorious sunshine or bracing British weather
  • Open to learning new technology and comfortable using smart devices
  • Physically fit and comfortable with heights to safely carry a ladder and climb a telephone pole
  • Good at Maths and English – skills will be tested during the application process
  • Licenced to manual driving a van  - driving licence with no more than 6 points
  • Able to manage their time as well as their workload
