As the R&D Technician, you will be responsible for performing a range of practical activities including operation, routine checks and problem solving of Research & Development pilot plants and collection and analysis of samples to enable successful Research & Development projects’ delivery.
Key areas of accountability will include:
- Collection and analysis of samples.
- Operation of pilot plant and sampling and operation and calibration of lab equipment.
- Monitoring, collating and reporting of data to ensure successful delivery of R&D projects.
- HNC level or equivalent in a scientific subject or a closely related subject, alternatively, science A-levels and previous relevant work experience.
- Competent with Word and Excel.
- A good understanding of laboratory Health & Safety systems.
- Ability to work safely without direct supervision.
- A good working knowledge of analytical techniques and quality control procedures.
- Ideally some experience in providing ‘on-the-job’ training.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work flexibly.
- A full valid driving licence is required for this role.
- Ability to work to continuous improvement and putting your ideas forward.

This role really puts you at the heart of the business as you join a team dedicated to providing excellent customer service. Our Research, Development and Innovation department is a key part of the business which allows us to ensure that our drinking water is safe and clean and that our waste product is treated in the correct way.
We do this by running lab scale experiments, building and operating large pilot plants and full scale demonstrations on operational assets.
