Job Description

What is the purpose of this role?

To lead a region of the CHP Maintenance Team to deliver its maintenance plan and targets for uptime and output using specialist technical knowledge, planning and effective people management. Support the area and wider team using specialist knowledge of engine and/or generator, electrical and controls systems.

What will this role involve?

To monitor and report on the uptime, efficiency and load factor of the CHP fleet, implementing the necessary changes to maximise efficiency and operational performance.

Manage a team of technicians and technical support staff to deliver team targets, providing strong focus on employee engagement, development and health, safety & wellbeing.

Assist to implement and embed technical innovation, systems and processes to improve generation efficiency and revenue from generation. Highlight requirement to change specifications and asset standards where necessary.

Liaison with key stakeholder relationships to improve planning, communication and business performance.

End-to-end project management and delivery of various engine and generation related projects in the region.

Apply commercial acumen in managing contractors and suppliers to deliver the best value and most sustainable solution.

What skills are we looking for?

The successful candidate will either be a graduate, typically with relevant work experience, or ONC/HNC or equivalent in CHP/engine/generator/controls, typically with more than five years relevant work experience.

Knowledge of gas system and membership of relevant professional body is desirable.

Good and proven people management and leadership skills.

Good interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.

Fully competent at using company IT systems and MS Office software.

Due to the nature of this role a full, clean UK driving licence is required.

Information & Salary

The location for this role is flexible but ideally should be at Mogden, Maple Lodge or Reading sewage treatment works. We are offering a salary up to £48,000 depending on location, skills and experience, plus an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave, pension scheme and a host of other flexible benefits.

The contracted hours are 37 a week, although some unpaid overtime will be required as business requires. There is also a requirement to participate in an out-of-hours coordinator rota.
