Our client is an established training solutions provider working in the defence/aerospace industry. After a substantial contract win they are looking to supplement their Operations team with experienced and confident Technical Buyer.

Job Role

The Technical Buyer shall work as part of production team and shall be responsible for performing the purchasing requirements for business operations and customer contracts.


-Establishing, developing and maintaining a reliable and cost effective supplier capability comprising quality suppliers of materials, components and services.
-Obtaining and negotiating competitive pricing and deliveries to support project budget and delivery constraints.
-Ensuring applicable statutory and regulatory requirements and project specific terms are accurately included in purchase agreements.
-Expediting timely deliveries and resolving supply issues.
-Supporting or attending supplier meetings as necessary. Assisting with Goods-in receipt, booking in, stock transfer and returns activities.
-Creation and maintenance of purchasing and stock transaction records using the Company's manufacturing management software application.


-Experience with strong numerical, analytical and negotiating skills.
-Ideally from an electro-mechanical low-medium volume, high value manufacturing industry.
-A strong working knowledge of the procurement process and techniques.
-Good commercial awareness and ability to negotiate favourable terms of performance and governance with suppliers.
-Good understanding of applicable statutory regulations such as export control regulations.
-Experience of purchasing bespoke, manufactured parts including scheduled deliveries.
-Good IT skills and experience of working with software manufacturing systems such as MRP.
-Good understanding of engineering and other technical information.
-Excellent technical and interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written.
