Job Description

Teaching Assistant  -  1-2-1

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work on a 1-2-1 basis with a child who has been diagnosed with Autism. This role requires a Teaching Assistant who has worked with SEND and who enjoys making a difference. You will need to be a resilient, caring and passionate individual who is able to tailor their approach to suit the needs of the child.

This role will involve working closely with the SENCO and teaching staff to ensure the child is supported and engaged in learning. As a Teaching Assistant you will be responsible for managing classroom behaviour and supporting the child’s academic progress.

Job Role:
  • Working 1-2-1 with SEND students
  • Making learning fun for disengaged students
  • Providing support to teaching staff when needed
  • Building rapport and trust with students
  • Leading on fun classroom activities
 

Ideally, you will:
  • Have experience working as a Learning Mentor or Teaching Assistant
  • Have worked with challenging behaviour
  • Be able to break down barriers to communication
  • Have a calm, patient and positive approach
  • Be able to challenge students when required
