Marine Engineering & Systems - T31

The Systems Engineer role is based within our Marine Engineering & Systems - T31business area

Babcock is rapidly establishing itself as an international Naval ship designer and builder. We have built on the success of the UK MoD Type 31 Frigate and have secured contracts for frigate export variants (AH140) with overseas customers. As well as supporting exports of frigates the engineering team is actively working on other ship newbuild and life extension programs around the world, from small fast attack craft all the way up to aircraft carriers.

The difference our new Systems Engineer will make

As a Systems Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will belong to the wider engineering capability group and will have the opportunity to support other projects in different roles within your discipline with a focus on longer term career development.

Day to day, you'll be developing designs through concept and early-stage design as well as supporting the bidding process. You will also demonstrate understanding of systems engineering concepts and principles and how they relate to the requirements and acceptance of a complex platform. You'll apply engineering knowledge and carry out technical investigations and analysis to produce technical solutions / documentation and problem assessment / resolution in support of assigned tasks.

Essential experience

• Well-rounded generalist knowledge of systems engineering.
• An analytical approach and a desire for complex problem solving.
• Team player with good written and oral communication skills.
• High level of competence in using Microsoft Excel.
