Support Worker / Care Worker

Location: Retford

Salary: £17,152 - £19,374 per annum (£8.91 to £10.07 per hour) plus enhancements

Hours: Full and part time hours available

3 month fixed term role with the possibility of an extension

Branching Out Retford is a busy and dynamic supported housing service for young people aged 16 – 21 years who are homeless or at threat of becoming homeless. Commissioned by Nottinghamshire County Council, Branching Out Retford offers a high quality, strengths based support service which aims to build the skills, confidence and independence of the young people who come through their doors. They are recruiting enthusiastic Support workers to join their friendly team.

Your responsibilities as a Support Worker:

Working in a fun and supportive team who promote healthy lives through building resilience and wellbeing, you will be expected to:

Key work with several young people and building their support package.

Attend meetings with statutory agencies

Advocate on behalf of young people

Liaise with other professionals to ensure successful and positive outcomes are achieved even when your support is no longer required.

Offer assistance with practical tasks such as: shopping, cooking, cleaning and budgeting.

Advise service users on how to manage all areas of tenancy management such as paying bills, being a good neighbour and understanding how to run a home.

Writing reports

Help the service user to explore education, employment, leisure and enrichment activities

NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED – WE HAVE GOT YOU COVERED!

Whilst experience is not essential as full training will be provided, they very much welcome previous experience working as a Home Carer, Care Worker, Health Care Assistant, Nurses, Social Care Worker, Mental Health Worker.

If you're creative, resilient and passionate about improving the lives of young people then our client want to hear from you! You will have an understanding of the challenges young people face in the current climate, and will work hard to overcome these using a strengths based model of support. You will enjoy a challenge and a role which is rewarding and varied.

It is desirable if you have a full driving licence and access to a car as you may be required to travel to a variety of locations around the County in the course of your work.

Branching Out Retford opens 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is essential that you are able to work on a rota basis as typical shifts are: 8.00am – 15:30pm or 14:30pm – 22:00pm. They understand that you want to plan and make time for your personal commitments and will ensure where possible to plan the rotas in advance!
