Job Description

Reporting into the Stock Manager, the Stock Captain will supervise a specific shift for the stock function within the warehouse operation to meet agreed process, safety and performance standards.


Key Responsibilities
*Take responsibility for part of the stock operation on a shift basis and supervise all activity and people within that area
*Take responsibility for the effective training and induction of any new members of the team that are assigned to work in the area you are responsible for
*Liaise closely with the warehouse management team and actively support them in the effective running of the DDC
*Carry out your duties in accordance with the agreed operational procedures and in line with any training given
*Actively seek assistance from a member of the management team if you or one of the people in the area you are responsible for, are unsure with any task or process
*Take responsibility for your own health and safety and the standards in the area you are responsible for
*Maintain good standards of housekeeping and organisation in your area of responsibility
*Follow instructions from your manager and participate in team briefs or feedback sessions
*Actively support a safety first culture and report any safety issues with people, process or equipment to your line manager.
*Carry out any task as instructed by the stock management teams in all areas to support the good running of the warehouse and transport operations
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
*Previous experience in a supervisory role highly desirable
*Previous experience of working in a stock management role essential
*A good knowledge of the warehouse operational process and procedure in all areas
*Good standards of literacy, numeracy and ICT competence.
*Good communication skills
*Warehouse experience essential
*A willingness to seek improvement in the warehouse operation and process

Working hours: 40 hours per week on a rotating two shift pattern
