Job Description

A permanent vacancy for an experienced Computer Programmer with proven Microsoft ASP.NET, VB.NET and Microsoft SQL (T-SQL) skills. Coding, whilst the key skill for this, our most senior Programmer, needs to be supported with strong communication and commercial/analytical skills.

Working with Stakeholders across our Logistics, Technical Operations and support teams, you will be pivotal to ensuring that one-off IT projects or ongoing system enhancements are delivered on time, on budget and in line with expectations. The ability to handle the brief will be fundamental to your success in this role.

So a typical day may involve:

*Liaising with clients to ensure that the development of their computer systems matches their expectations
*Producing accurate and achievable solutions, taking into account budgets, timescales and the affects on the rest of the business
*Providing accurate timescales for the development, testing and implementation of new / revised computer system(s)
*Preparing system specifications having due regard to the company's standards for system development
*Coding and testing computer systems in accordance with approved design
*Assisting operations and support staff with the resolution of operational problems
*Revising and amending systems and programs where corrections, system changes, improvements or database administration are required
*Assisting with technical guidance and on-the-job training of less experienced staff, and check the work of colleagues, if required
*Providing initial training of the system for users
*Monitoring existing systems to identify possible savings in time and costs

We are interested in hearing from you if:

*To support our diverse service offering, we design and develop our own predominantly web-based fleet management systems, including real-time handheld vehicle delivery and inspection systems for which you will need ASP.NET with VB.NET, Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2012/2014,
*It would be highly desirable to have some or all of the following: Entity Framework, TFS/SourceSafe, Microsoft Reporting Services, HTML, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery, Ajax, Web services.Be able to work well to tight deadlines and objectives
*Be a highly pragmatic (as opposed to a theoretical or blue skies) problem solver with a 'get the job done' mentality
*Have excellent communication skills both written and oral
*Possess good analytical capability
*Be determined and ambitious to succeed
*Have experience of internet application development preferably within ateam environment
*As the most senior programmer on the team, you must also be able to work collaboratively with your peers and support the development of a less experienced member of the department.
