The Senior Supportability Engineer role is based within our Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Function, as part of Submarine Support Engineering business area in Naval Nuclear Devonport. The aim is to reduce the Through Life Costs by optimising the support system required for products, through influencing their design for supportability and determining the optimum support requirements.

The role

The difference our new Engineer will make

As a Senior Supportability Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will Lead a team of Supportability Engineers whilst applying engineering domain knowledge competently to provide technical solutions in the delivery of products and services while developing domain knowledge, experience and leadership skills.

As part of the role, you could be involved in the following:
Influencing the design of the submarine - maximising ease of support in service;
Developing an in-service Support Solution which demonstrably satisfies requirements for availability and cost;
Ensuring the submarine can be maintained within safe operating limits.

Essential experience
Ideally with an HND/HNC or Degree level qualification in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (or related field) or significant experience. You'll need to be able demonstrate the motivation to drive issues to completion and to continue your professional development.
You'll be an excellent communicator and able to articulate complex arguments for a wide range of stakeholders to understand.
Project management experience or qualifications would be advantageous as the role requires the delivery of documentation to time and budget.
You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.

If you have ex-military or industry experience in Electronics, Power, Systems, Naval Architecture, Nuclear, Air Certification or any other engineering discipline, then we have opportunities at Babcock across a wide range of disciplines within our Integrated Logistic Support function and look forward to receiving your application.
