The Senior Safety Engineer role is based within our Devonport Royal Dockyard business area.

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy's new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

The role

The difference our new Senior Safety Engineer will make

As a Senior Safety Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will be working alongside other highly qualified and knowledgeable Engineers to deliver the design and technical capability to provide through-life support of RN Warships, whilst delivering essential technical support to the Support Business growth programme.

Day to day, you'll apply safety and environmental technical knowledge and expertise in support of Type 23 frigates, amphibious assault ships, landing craft and single role mine hunters.

This role provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home. You may require to be on site as programme demands.

Essential experience
10 years experince in the engineering field.
Safety experience.
Qualification(s) in relevant discipline
Experience in technical problem solving and restoration of design intent.
Experience of diagnosing faults on systems, equipment, and components, and proposing justified repair plans including maintenance improvements.
Awareness of maintenance theory and best practices for complex assets.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
