The Senior Safety Case Engineer role is based within our Devonport Royal Dockyard business area.

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy's new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

The role
The difference our new Senior Safety Case Engineer will make
As a Senior Safety Case Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will make a difference by taking the pressure off the DSO Specialist whilst helping the business meet the MoD target for Defuelling.
Day to day, you'll provide Nuclear and Radiological knowledge and support to the business. You will also oversee the delivery of Nuclear Safety Cases and Licencing Plans and the development and implementation of Nuclear Safety processes and standards.

Essential experience
Educated to Degree level in an Engineering or Scientific discipline and/or have relevant knowledge and experience.
A background in nuclear/radiological safety is highly beneficial.
Be registered as a Chartered Engineer (or be working towards chartered status).
You will have good interpersonal skills and be competent in verbal and written communication, with the ability to operate and interface effectively with Senior Managers and internal stakeholders.
Must have specific experience in Deterministic Safety Analysis to support this area of Safety Case development.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
