Your role can often lack autonomy, decision making capability and overall exposure to the front/back end business elements, becoming a project to project senior quantity surveyor.

We're looking to bring your experience of working on housing development and/or construction projects as you commercially lead this business and work as the right-hand person to the directors in helping them to continue to be the sustainable business they've been since the 1930's. If you can help them grow a little as well, great.
The business you'll be joining are a small, 4th generation family run building contractor/developer currently turning over £6m. It would be great if you can help them bring that figure closer to 10. You'll have full commercial responsibility over 2 initial projects of £6.5m and £3.4m in value and will help this business to find more work also. Don't worry, we're not expecting the world from you. It's an office based role working from 9-5 so no more travelling across the country to get to site at 7am also. You'll only ever need to visit sites which are all within 30 mins of the office.
As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, this is a key, pivotal, commercial lead role that will develop into more significant management and directorship one day if you feel that's where you can take it. No pressure though, we just need your commercial nous at this stage as the previous guy is retiring after 20 years. Can you help us?
