The role

Reporting to the Strategic Projects Manager (NPD), the Senior Process Engineer - NPD will work within the New Product Development Team to develop and deliver commercially viable products / projects, in line with the company's growth strategy. Governance will be provided from Programme Managers, Contracts Manager, Business Development, Commercial and Technical and Managing Directors.
Day to day, you'll
Ensure all technical endeavours are conducted in line with the Engineering Design Governance policy.
Align individual objectives with team objectives measuring performance through periodic reviews with the Strategic Projects Manager (NPD) and continually through the PDR system on Success Factors.
Design activities associated with marine and offshore liquefied gas plants, ensuring safe and economical design while striving for continuous improvement.
Develop PFD's and P&ID's with participation in design reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL and LoPA.
Develop process heat/mass balance to size and select equipment.
Produce datasheets and specifications for equipment such as heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, control and safety relief valves.
Produce technical documentation including formal submission of calculations, reports and operating manuals.
Collaborative working with Control and Instrumentation Engineers to define process control philosophy and plant logic requirements early in the design phase, ensuring continued parallel working throughout the project execution phase.
Essential experience of the Senior Process Engineer (New Product Development - NPD)
Process industry experience (preferably marine) but would consider experience from other industries such as water, wastewater, power, pharmaceutical and drinks or food industry.
Experience working on the development of new products with focus on front end engineering design.
Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills to develop innovative solutions for market and customer needs.
Clear and confident communicator. Fluent in the English language (verbal & written).
Able to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.
Good working knowledge of Product and Process Safety systems; HAZID, HAZOP, SIL and LoPA.
Highly motivated with an attention to detail.
Ability to lead tasks and work to tight timescales.
Good working knowledge of Unisim and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Familiarity with software packages such as HTRI, Refprop and AFT Fathom would be an advantage.
Knowledge of API and manufacturer standards for sizing of relief valves would also be beneficial.
The role offers hybrid working with 2 days on site and 3 days working from home
Qualifications for the Senior Process Engineer (New Product Development - NPD)
A degree in Chemical / Process Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
A member of a relevant professional institution (typically IChemE) with the ability to achieve Chartered Engineer status.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve basic security clearance level for this role.
