A fantastic opportunity within Harrow Council for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join us as a SENIOR PLANNING OFFICER

We are seeking self-driven and motivated individual to join us as a Senior Planning Officer to work on a full time contract. In return we pay a competitive negotiable rate dependent on experience, other benefits include excellent training and support for career development and 21 days holiday (excluding Bank Holidays).

The successful candidate will support the effective renewal and regeneration of Harrow Council, and will also be responsible for the negotiation and case management of complex applications, delivering significant levels of investment within the Borough.
They will also be responsible for processing of planning appeals, the provision of specialist planning advice as well as day to day management of pre-application processes or similar function within the area team.
They will also be required to oversee the determination of appropriate planning applications under the Scheme of Delegation.

To be successful in the role, you will need to have the following skills and experience:

-Planning Degree or equivalent qualification accredited to the RTPI
-Experience in planning policy, planning enforcement or development management.
-A willingness to respond positively to change in procedures, practice, policies, and organization within the Development Management Section, the Planning Group, and the Council in general.
-Ability to work effectively as part of a development management or planning related project team and a willingness to work in a manner that contributes positively to the performance of the team.
-Ability to understand and discuss complex planning and regeneration issues.
-Ability to deal professionally and courteously , and to undertake effective verbal and written communication, with elected Members, Council Officers, members of the public, and other interested parties.
