You'll support both new-build infrastructure, as well as projects relating to the development of existing dockyard and naval base assets, thus helping us to create the naval base and dockyard of the future, supporting the Royal Navy's current submarine fleets and ready to receive the next generation of naval platforms.
What do I need to do the role?
You'll hold a Science Degree in Radiation Protection, or a Science, Engineering or Mathematics Degree with relevant Radiation Protection experience. You'll be a Chartered Radiation Protection Professional (or equivalent) or willing to work towards this. You will also hold, or be working towards, Radioactive Waste Advisor accreditation.
We would also like you to have the following experience:
* Environmental Permitting and Radioactive Waste Management on Nuclear Licenced Sites
* Nuclear facility licensing and authorisation
* Provision of Radiation Protection advice within an operational environment
* Preparation of Radiation Protection documentation in the support of safety case submissions
* Generation and maintenance of radioactive waste assessments including the application of BAT
* Lastly, you'll need strong interpersonal and effective communication skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to confidently interface with Stakeholders at all levels within the organisation, up to Board Level.
What else do I need to know?
The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This will require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
