The Senior Data Engineer role is based within our Babcock Corporate Services (BCS) business unit

Babcock Corporate Services (BCS) is a global function, with our largest site being Lakeside in Portsmouth, but we operate from multiple sites around the world. BCS supplies and operates all IT, security, procurement, and finance Shared Services. We are embedded alongside the operations that we serve, enabling us to maintain close working relationships that support delivery to our customers. We drive standardisation, simplification and automation across Babcock, to help generate sustainable value for the group and our external customers

The role

The difference our new Senior Data Engineer will make

As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. We are therefore looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated individuals to be part of this team who will be primarily responsible for developing, managing and controlling data sourcing solutions based on Microsoft's SQL Server Data and Business Intelligence Platforms.

Day to day, you'll be developing data warehouse solutions against business requirements and provide guidance and continuous improvements of development process across the Babcock Data Platforms.

Essential experience
Ability to understand decisions that need to be made by the business owners and administration of reports, dashboards, schedules, jobs, databases, storage, etc.
Committed to excellence in everything you do with a real desire to deliver quality service to customers at all times
Extremely self-motivated to learn and ramp up on emerging technologies and tools
Experience of working in technical teams with large enterprise class systems
Aptitude to work collaboratively across IT and non-IT departments
