We are currently seeking a Senior business analyst to provide invaluable analytical support to the wider procurement team, who deliver against strong savings targets across this and the next period, as well as delivering value over and above the pound sign.
You will be heavily involved in the assessment of opportunities with stakeholders and closely involved in the day-to-day delivery of sourcing projects ensuring that recommendations reflect the best possible value and are in line with business objectives.
As a Commercial Business Analyst, your time will predominantly be split between data analytics, supporting sourcing managers with market analysis, and stakeholder engagement.
You will gain great exposure to a huge range of projects, business stakeholders, suppliers and wider business streams. The team is currently responsible for £1.5billion worth of spend per year, with contract values ranging between circa £100,000 through to hundreds of million pounds.
This role is within Thames Water Procurement which will suit candidates with good commercial experience and a strong numerical background. Opportunity to move into the wider business at Thames Water is actively encouraged, and those joining analytical positions are seen as a great talent pool to other business streams.
This role will involve:
You will be obtaining, cleansing and analysing large and complex data files to provide insight on our historical spend as well as identifying opportunities in cost and operational efficiency using historic and forecast information.
You will be leading and supporting stakeholder (project) meetings and presenting findings in front of stakeholder group, which may involve senior level commercial and operational managers to drive decision making.
You will be developing and recommending appropriate commercial models and pricing templates/ bid sheets for each sourcing initiative either by using existing templates or creating new models working closely with the project team.
Supporting the development of sourcing recommendations, by providing commercial analysis of final costs verses budgets and baseline outlined in sourcing strategy and evidencing what additional business value has been enabled.
Demonstrating a thirst for knowledge to understand the macro and micro trends in the wider supply chain and applying these to commercial strategy.
Regularly engaging with stakeholders to elicit information and define scope of analysis and providing support to internal and external (supplier) meetings to explain data analysis as requested.
Undertaking a key role in the strategical planning process within commercial including analytical support to enable project forecasting and prioritisation including recommendations to Commercial Business Partners of future opportunity areas.
To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:
Your previous role will be working in a procurement or finance department within a utilities company or large corporate international blue-chip company.
Your qualifications include being educated to degree level in Mathematics, Accountancy, Business Studies or equivalent.
You will be known as a self-starter with a proven strong analytical mind set and proven background in a Commercial setting.
You will possess intermediate PowerPoint, Visual Basic and Excel capabilities, Power BI, as well as either a relevant degree or equivalent.
You will be self-sufficient, hold strong communication/stakeholder engagement skills, and be able to prioritise/multitask to produce required deliverables efficiently.
Key to this role is also the ability to isolate key issues and draw sound conclusions from various sources of information.
As an effective Senior Commercial Analyst you will already have a good understanding of a commercial business and experience with business analysis techniques.
Experience with business analysis techniques, data modelling tools would be desirable but is not essential.
