As a Senior Buyer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will support Babcock with delivering our purpose of Creating a Safe and Secure World Together through the production and manufacture of high-performance military vehicles, either directly or within supporting roles.

This is an exciting opportunity to support Babcock with delivering our purpose of creating a safe and secure world together through the production and manufacture of high-performance military vehicles (Jackal), either directly or within supporting roles.

The Jackal vehicles are designed to protect military personnel serving in volatile environments and can protect against roadside explosions and mine attacks.

We are seeking highly motivated, positive individuals to join our team.

Day to day, you'll lead and support the acquisition of goods and/or services for the company at the best total acquisition cost, complete pro-active supplier order book management activities and associated reporting, identify value opportunities and levers, manage and develop supplier relationships including supplier visits and prepare, issue and review supplier request for quotations recommending preferred options to the relevant stakeholders. You will commercially represent the company and provide procurement / commercial input into and sign off (procurement) statements of requirement prior to release to suppliers, complete requirements (review and recommend preferred bidders) and co-ordinate order placement as well as ongoing contract management on larger packages, consistent with the specified performance, technical, quality assurance and delivery requirements which are critical to the success of this business.

Essential experience:
Knowledge of commercial business practices and proven communication skills, both verbally and written
GCSEs or equivalent qualification in Maths and English.
Computer literate, particularly in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
Knowledge of procurement systems such as ERP / MRP technologies
Knowledge of electronic internet-based purchasing systems.
Previous knowledge of a purchasing department or environment.
Successful candidate will need to satisfy security requirements. This will require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving SC clearance
