You will be supporting in a provision that supports students with visual impairment, autistic spectrum disorder, physical disabilities and/or other learning difficulties. Your students are positive and enthusiastic about their time at the college and when asked the main ‘selling point’ of the provision, Leaders said the friendliness of their pupils.
You will work closely with pupils to enable them to give their views on college life, all of which inform decisions by the college management and staff. In response to growth and changing needs of pupils, leaders have put in place a wide range of pathways for students to study. This, along with the high level of personal support and encouragement from staff results in students’ confidence growing throughout their time here.
The sites are calm and nurturing environments where your colleagues are well qualified. They support students with complex needs using their expertise well to plan and implement strategies in the classroom.
Leaders and managers provide you with extensive training for you to support the health and care needs of students. This includes de-escalation and intervention techniques, manual handling and personal care. This training enables you to provide highly individualised support for students with complex communication needs. As a result, pupils are able to make choices and become more independent in sessions.
This College is based in Birmingham and is recruiting a Permanent (TA) to join its expanding team. You will be supporting pupils across the college and inspiring pupils to prepare for life after education.

To be successful in your application, you should;
• Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification
• Have knowledge and experience of SEN within Education provisions
• Be able and willing to travel to the Birmingham area
