Day to day, you will be responsible for setting and implementing the SH&EP policy, structure, and governance in line with the Group Safety approach. You will be expected to embed an engaged safety culture and behaviours, while ensuring that all statutory and legal Health, Safety, and Environmental obligations are met.
Your duties will include establishing a system for measuring, monitoring, analyzing, and reviewing SH&EP performance, implementing continuous improvement plans, and advising the Sector Board. In this role, you will ensure that all opportunities to learn from experiences are shared across the Sector and Group. Additionally, you will support the development of workforce and leadership SH&EP capability.
You will work closely with key stakeholders, such as regulators and trade unions, to build strong relationships and ensure that new marine businesses and opportunities have an appropriate level of SH&EP capability embedded within. You will provide support to the Marine Corporate Safety Leadership Team representative, and contribute to the development and review of Group-level policies, standards, and manuals, as well as the refinement of common safety management tools.
As a SHEP Director, you will be expected to provide leadership, guidance, and continuous professional development to HSE professionals and collaborate with peers from other sectors. You will drive transformation initiatives to establish a culture of operational excellence and safety, in partnership with the Production Capability lead. Lastly, you will ensure risks are understood, and corrective plans are implemented promptly to remove further risks through effective risk management.
Essential experience
Experience and evidence of working at a strategic level delivering high performance through inspiring leadership, embedding culture and behavioural change.
Experience of working in a highly regulated, complex industrial environment.
Relevant professional qualification; NEBOSH, IOSH, chartered status etc
Creative and innovative approach to improving SH&EP performance
Belief in the benefits of collaborative working and ability to demonstrate the required behaviours.
Strong stakeholder engagement experience with the proven ability to influence authority at all levels.
