The role
As a Principal Safety Case Consultant, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will provide strategic guidance based on knowledge and experience to inform and direct policies, projects and programmes.
Day to day, you'll provide the nuclear safety input to design projects, ensuring that nuclear safety requirements are incorporated.
Key duties
Managing delivery for the work undertaken within their agreed remit against cost and programme to the satisfaction of the Key Stakeholders .
Producing, verifying, and approving calculations, analyses, design basis documentation and technical reports.
Acting as the Point of Contact for the Key Stakeholders, ensuring adequate communication between the Engineering Delivery Team, Construction Experts, Operators, Safety Assessors, Site Safety Case Managers and other Stakeholders.
Review and approval of design changes, concessions and technical queries.
Managing project risks by closing out safety items on the Technical Issues and Risk Register Database.
Producing, verifying, and approving technical Scopes of Work, assessing tender returns, then verifying/assessing and/or approving the outputs to ensure that the requirements of the design sub-contract are met.
Essential experience of the Safety Case Consultant
Developing and preparing safety documentation for projects such as Hazard Management Strategy, Safety Reports (PSRs, PCSRs etc. and equivalents), ALARP arguments.
Cross-industry experience, knowledge of a wide range of nuclear facilities and their operations.
Qualifications for the Safety Case Consultant
Bachelor Honours Degree (minimum) in Science or Engineering related discipline
The successful candidate must be able to achieve Secret level security clearance for this role.
