The role

As a Risk Manager you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. From decommissioning redundant nuclear facilities, through supporting the Continuous at Sea Deterrent, to supporting the operation and build of nuclear power plants, our role in Cavendish Nuclear is to clean up the nuclear legacy and create a world where nuclear plays a key contribution in protecting our nation, ensuring security of energy supply, and meeting our net zero commitments.

Day to day, you'll lead on risk and opportunity management across business winning and project delivery phases. You'll be responsible for facilitating and controlling the identifications and assessments of risk and the planning and implementation of treatments to maximise threat reduction and realisation of opportunity.

  • Develop the Project Risk & Opportunity Management plan that is compliant with policy, procedure and commercial requirements and ensure it is implemented.
  • Analysis of risk and production of risk performance reports with conclusions and recommendations to the project and business.
  • Manage and control time and cost risk contingency and ensure the management of risk is aligned to business financial and commercial needs
  • You'll also provide training material and delivery to the Project Managers and functions supporting the process, as well as schedule and cost risk analysis provision.

Essential experience of the Risk Manager,

  • Extensive and recent relevant experience within a highly regulated industry (defence is advantageous)
  • Recent and relevant experience in a specialist risk and opportunity position.
  • Awareness of various contracting methodologies(such as FIDIC/NEC3-NEC4/JCT etc...)
  • Experienced with working on a full project lifecycle, from bid phase to close out.

37 hours per week, Hybrid working arrangement with 2-3 days a week spent onsite at selected location (Bristol or Newbury or Warrington).

Qualifications for the Risk Manager,

  • A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in engineering / project / construction management or

a related field

  • A postgraduate qualification is also desirable, as is membership in a professional body
  • APM qualified preferably to Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) is advantageous

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
