We are looking to recruit Relief Support Workers to join our dedicated team in St Austell. This role will require you to work a mixture of day and waking night shifts on a rolling rota.  Day shifts vary between 08.00 - 20.00 and waking nights are 20.00 - 08.00. Flexibility to cover all shifts on a rota basis is important to ensure we are able to provide the support needed within the service.

This is the perfect opportunity if you are looking for a friendly and energetic environment to work in!  We are looking for someone who is a real team player and has a great sense of humour - good IT skills are important too. Full training will be provided as part of your induction with us while you're on shift and will include practical and online training.

A full UK driving licence is essential for this role however you do not need to have your own vehicle as we have access to four mobility cars that you will have access to. 

About our Service

We support four people in our St Austell service and they have higher needs and therefore require more support. They have profound and multiple learning disabilities and three of them are wheelchair users which involves moving & handling and hoisting.

The people we support have high support levels, as a Support Worker you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will enormously contribute to the people within the service, living a more comfortable and happy life.

Day to day tasks will include, assisting the people we support within their home yet providing encouragement with household chores, cooking, grocery shopping and understanding their finances. Intimate personal care and medication administering are a daily occurrence so you must be comfortable with this.

What does a Relief Support Worker do?

As a Relief Support Worker you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will enormously contribute to the people we support, living a more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life.

Supporting people to live independently – budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals.

Relationship building – supporting the people we support to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.

Community & Social Inclusion - supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality.

Personal care - helping people to get ready for the day. This may include prompting the people we support to take their medication and assisting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom. Not all Support Worker roles include high levels of personal care.
