Pertemps Medical Professionals,  have several vacancies for highly motivated, experienced and flexible mental health practitioner to work within our client's SPA service.  The successful applicant will work as part of a team of practitioners delivering high quality care to a people who use Mental Health services on the Isle of Wight.

SPA is the gateway for secondary mental health care for the IOW.  All new referrals will be triaged through the SPA where the person will be directed, assessed and signposted to the most appropriate treatment pathway. This will be carried out via routine and urgent assessments and also when required carrying out crisis assessments.



The SPA also provides the IOW’s mental health phone line. This is a 24/7 service which is open to all island residents requiring support, advice and guidance and signposting and will also support known service users when their current teams are not on duty.

SPA also supports the police through the award winning ‘Serenity’ project which provides a police liaison and Street triage service providing crisis assessments and prevention of S136.


 The SPA also supports the islands first Mental Health Safe Haven.  This new service will be based at Quay House in Newport and is a year’s pilot in partnership with the Richmond Fellowship.  The Safe Haven is a service that will be open 5 evenings a week and daytime and evenings at weekends for people to access if they feel they are heading towards a mental health crisis. The service will aim to support and prevent mental health crisis from occurring.

You will act as a positive role model to junior staff, have an excellent knowledge of mental health assessment and treatment pathways, you will be confident to work under the loan worker policy when in the community performing crisis assessments.  You will have excellent communication and documentation skills and ability to learn and use the trusts computer systems, the main one being the PARIS system.
