My client is a technology catalyst company and they are looking for an innovative engineer with relevant experience to lead and support a test and development facility. Work is carried out on a project basis, and will result in new products, services for the oil, gas and utilities markets.
The core activity for this role is to use experimentation and analysis of the results to determine new theories and develop new products.
They have a philosophy of experiment supported design for developing new products and intellectual property. As a development engineer, you would help to design, set up and use project specific experimental equipment. You would then use this equipment to accurately assess different elements of an overall solution. Tests are designed to be quick and precise, concentrating on one or two parameters at a time. Precision testing requires the recording and processing of multiple data streams. System behaviour can then be deduced from detailed observation of outcomes and the resulting data. Conclusions are rapidly drawn to allow the overall product development to progress efficiently.

The core activities for this role are:
*Design and build of prototype technologies
*Design and build of experimental equipment;
*Commissioning and adaptation of experimental equipment;
*Analysis & Reporting (formal & informal, written & oral);
*Collaboration with technical partners;
The work is wide-ranging, a sample of our current and recent projects includes:
*Developing robotically deployed UV cured sealants in live underground gas mains
*Developing tools for remotely investigating and repairing buried valves on high pressure gas networks
*Working with Universities to develop new gas-borne chemical sealants
*Developing a range of tools for use in emergency response to large pipeline leaks
*Assisting a downhole well company with business placement and market position.
*Examining the challenge faced by debris in the aging gas network
We expect the successful candidate to have
*a good first degree; or
*a postgraduate degree or relevant industrial experience;
The successful candidate will have the ability to work as part of a small close knit team. They will be able to work unsupervised and also be able to work with and report to remotely sited colleagues.
